REPORT: FPM, AMAL, Hezbollah meet in Hadath, call for national unity

A meeting between MPs of the Free Patriotic Movement, the AMAL Movement and Hezbollah was held on Friday in the municipality of Hadath.

During the meeting, MP Ali Ammar reiterated keenness “on solidifying the national unity and the shared destiny.”

For his part, MP Alain Aoun said that no disputes must lead to "a rift on the national level.”

Meanwhile, MP Ali Bazzi said that the AMAL Movement "has nothing to do with the incidents that took place in Hadath."

“We did not ask Minister Gebran Bassil for an apology, but he has to apologize to the Lebanese people,” he added.

The town of Hadath witnessed a rally by supporters of Speaker Nabih Berri.

It was one of many protests staged to protest comments made by Minister Bassil in a video leaked in which he dubbed Berri a "thug."
