Draft law to grant tenure to EDL contractors ratified after withdrawal of Aoun's MPs
The joint parliamentary committees ratified a draft law to grant tenure to contract workers at Electricité Du Liban (EDL).

Following this decision, the EDL contract workers and bill collectors rallied outside the EDL building in Mar Mikhael to celebrate.

They saluted House Speaker Nabih Berri and the political parties that stood by their side and contributed to granting them tenure.

Celebrations were also held outside the EDL’s buildings throughout Lebanon.

Change and Reform bloc MPs had earlier withdrawn from the meeting held by the joint parliamentary committees on Thursday to look into the proposal of the parliamentary committees' sub-committee to grant tenure to the contractual workers and part time bill collectors at EDL, in protest of the report put forth by the sub-committee and led by MP Mohammad Kabbani.

Contract workers said they will go on with their sit-in until the Parliament ratifies the above-mentioned draft law.
