The General Directorate of General Security declared Wednesday that “it has guaranteed the voluntary return of hundreds of Syrian refugees from villages of Shebaa, Kfarchouba and al-Habbarieh to their hometowns in Syria.”
The number of refugees who returned reached 472, according to a statement issued by the General Security.
They left their gathering point in Shebaa in 14 buses, accompanied by General Security patrols, and headed to al-Masnaa crossing point at the Lebanese-Syrian borders.
The refugees’ return was conducted in the presence of the UN High Commissioner of Refugees UNHCR that directly spoke with the refugees to make sure that their action was completely voluntary.
