Aoun, Berri agree to wait for Constitutional Council’s decision over budget law challenge

President Michel Aoun and Speaker Nabih Berri discussed Tuesday the appeal, signed by 10 deputies, filed against the state budget’s article 49 before the Constitutional Council.

They to wait before giving any constitutional course to the presidential letter addressed by the President earlier today to the House Speaker, pending the Constitutional Council's decision on the appeal, the Presidency of the Republic said in a statement issued this Tuesday.

Aoun had sent a letter to the parliament, calling for reviewing article 49, which stipulates that any Arab citizen or foreigner who buys a residential property in Lebanon receives a residence permit.
