Al-Mashnouq says voters and candidates have a responsibility to commit to the law

Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq stressed Wednesday that the voters and candidates have a responsibility to commit to the law, noting that the instructions were clear in terms of electoral bribery.

Following a meeting held at Zahle Serail, al-Mashnouq said that the electronic vote counting process would help in the swift issuance of election results.

But it will not be an easy procedure because it will be done for the first time," he added.

On another note, the minister pointed out that the issuance of identity cards in replacement of lost ones has been stopped ten days ago, stressing that it is forbidden for voters to enter polling stations with their phones.

“We stand at a neutral distance from all sides, especially that we represent the Lebanese state," al-Mashnouq said.
