From 2009 to 2017, the parliament witnessed many term extensions, periods of vacuum and minimal parliamentary work, instead of legislation and monitoring.
A Lebanese center for studies conducted a study on the performance of the last parliament and came up with the following:
43% of the deputies did not present any draft law during their mandate.
In 8 years, the parliament passed 352 laws.
31 laws related to the needs of the people, 5 laws related to electricity, water, health and education and the rest are international agreements.
