President Aoun says will not be tolerant with any corruption case

President Michel Aoun received Friday EU Ambassador Christina Lassen at Baabda presidential palace, where he stressed that the period that will follow the cabinet formation will focus on improving the economic and social situation in the country, while maintaining security and stability and following up on the refugees’ return to their country.

He added that reforms will be the core of the new government, reiterating the need to pursue the development projects.

The president noted that all the political forces agree over the need to fight corruption, pointing out that he will not tolerate any corruption case.

Ambassador Lassen congratulated the President on the successful holding of the parliamentary elections on 6 May and stressed the European Union's commitment to the stability and prosperity of Lebanon.

"The European Union is looking forward to working with the new Parliament on the many challenges facing the country" she said, hoping that fruitful discussions among Lebanese party leaders will lead to the quick formation of a government which keeps the momentum towards the full functioning of state institutions and ensures the implementation of important economic and structural reforms.
