Machnouq from Baabda: There will be delay in implementing naturalization decree

Caretaker Minister of Interior Nouhad Machnouq asserted on Monday that he agreed with General Security head Major General Abbas Ibrahim on conducting an audit for the fourth time for the names mentioned in the naturalization decree.

Machnouq’s comments were made after meeting with President Michel Aoun at the Baabda presidential Palace whereby he noted that Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri will not backtrack on their decision unless they obtain concrete evidences.

The caretaker minister also noted that the naturalization decree does not include names with "security suspicions."

“There will be delay in implementing the naturalization decree, but it will not be frozen,” he added.

On another note, Machnouq concluded by saying that the Future bloc will submit a draft law to the Parliament to enable Lebanese women to pass their nationality to them.
