Hariri: State must assume its duties and control security in Lebanon
Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri slammed the latest security rattles in Lebanon, most notably the unrest in Beirut, saying that the chaos manifesting on the ground is aimed at “undermining the authority of the state and jeopardizing civil peace and national stability”.

Hariri called for “lifting political covers and armed protection off delinquents that are cutting roads, burning tires, creating chaos and organizing sit-ins in Beirut, Tripoli, Sidon and other regions”.

“Chaos on the street is being orchestrated by disciplined forces, contrary to what some parties would have [people] believe," Hariri said in a statement.

“The state must assume its duties and control the security in Lebanon, the country’s various vital facilities and the security of all Lebanese citizens,” he continued.
