“Strong Lebanon” on cabinet formation: Distribution must be proportional

“Strong Lebanon” bloc declared Tuesday that it will draft a document on the displacement issue and deliver it to officials, noting that the Free Patriotic Movement will review the possibility of forming civil committees in several regions to work with the refugees and encourage them to return to their country.

Following its weekly meeting, the bloc explained that they have always expressed the best hospitality for the Syrian people and never applied forced deportations, stressing that only the Lebanese law has been applied in an action plan that failed to be approved in the cabinet.

“Whoever is keen on the economy should know that the first thing to do is resolving the refugee crisis,” MP Gebran Bassil stated.

On the cabinet formation, the caretaker minister said that “their base did not change and the distribution must be proportional to form a national unity cabinet.”

“If any party decides to waiver voluntarily, they’re free to do so, but if a party refuses to waiver because of a political agreement that does no longer exist, then no one can force them,” he pointed out.

In this regard, he noted his bloc has acquired 55% of the people’s votes, followed by the Lebanese Forces with 31%, the Kataeb party 7% and the Marada Movement 6%, stressing the need to respect the people’s will.
