Baabda continues to wait for positive developments that might set the cabinet formation into motion, while the designation of Saad Hariri enters its second month.
This comes as President Michel Aoun reiterated, in the presence of his visitors, that he is doing his best to help the prime minister in his mission, denying reports stating that he set a deadline to form the cabinet or that he might withdraw the designation of prime minister, if the formation process is delayed.
While the president emphasized his support for the acceleration of the cabinet formation due to the many challenges that Lebanon is currently facing, he, however, is aware that the constitution puts the prime minister in charge of forming the cabinet with the president’s agreement, according to article 53 of the Lebanese constitution.
