The third Turkish power ship, Israa Sultan, is set to move from Jiyeh to Zouk, within the next few days, caretaker Energy Minister Cesar Abi Khalil told Keserwan “Strong Lebanon” deputies.
Regarding the reasons behind this move, first due to the malfunction of two generating groups at Zouk power plant that led to an increase of power outage hours in the region of Keserwan; and second due to the fact that the Jiyeh power grid cannot absorb all the power generated by the new ship, since it already harbors the new and old power plants in addition to the Orhan Bey Turkish ship.
After moving the power ship to the Zouk plant, the region will enjoy a power supply of 22 to 24 hours per day, from the moment it is connected to the grid until October 19th, the date of its departure from Lebanon.
