Sleiman slams Israeli violations, espionage

President of the Republic, Michel Sleiman, condemned Monday’s Israeli breach of the Lebanese sovereignty, saying it is a new violation to be added to a series of Israeli breaches of Resolution 1701.

Sleiman said on Tuesday that spying and planting mines and tapping devices were just another form of a continuous Israeli occupation.

Israeli warplanes detonated yesterday afternoon a tapping device it had planted in a valley between al-Zrariyeh and Tair Filsay villages near the Litani River.

Separately, the President met today at the Baabda presidential palace with the Minister of Environment, Nazem Khoury, with whom he discussed the current general situation.

Sleiman later received General Security Chief, Brigadier General Abbas Ibrahim, and the Director General of the Army Intelligence, General Edmond Fadel.

The meeting tackled the current security situation as well as the available information on the Bakeyaa incident.
