11 Officers involved in Sheikh Abdul Wahid’s death released

Thursday saw the release of 11 military personal, including 3 officers, involved in the death of Sheikh Abdul Wahed and his comrade. The three officers released include two captains and a lieutenant

Sheikh Abdul Wahid and his companion Sheikh Mohammad al-Mereb were killed on the 20th of May after failing to stop at an LAF checkpoint while on route to a rally organized by MP Khaled Daher in Halba to commemorate the killing of Future Movement supporters during clashes in 2008.

Subsequently, Akkar residents cut off Beereh road in protest to the decision to release 11 LAF personnel.
