Head of the Finance and Budget committee MP Ibrahim Kanaan declared Monday that there are 2.8 million Lebanese citizens who do not have health coverage, adding that providing comprehensive health coverage “must not be taken from the people’s pockets.”
Following the committee’s meeting at the parliament, Kanaan said that he requested from both health and finance ministries to provide them with the complete cost of the health card, explaining that the figures will be presented during the upcoming session.
The MP revealed that a special meeting for the Finance and Budget committee will be held next week to hear the statement of the ministers of finance and economy, Banque Du Liban and the banks association on the economic and financial situation in Lebanon, in order to set up a clear vision for the required reforms.
