Rai discusses electoral law with Australian House Speaker
Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai met with Australia's House Speaker Peter Slipper at his Diman summer residence on Saturday, and discussed the value of contribution of the Lebanese community there in parliamentary elections.

Slipper, accompanied by Australian ambassador to Lebanon, Lex Bartlem, invited Rai to visit Australia as he lauded the central role the Lebanese Maronite community played in his country.

In turn, Rai hoped to be able to visit Australia soon and stressed the importance of expatriates' participation in elections in their mother-land, as they too must have a say in Lebanese politics.
Separately, Rai met with ambassador of Sudan, Idriss Sleiman Youssef, who came on a farewell visit before leaving Lebanon.
