Daher warns of civil disobedience if cabinet stops short of acting
MP Khaled Daher announced on Sunday that the Akkar residents will not resort to road cutting but will rather express, “peacefully and quietly”, their condemnation of the release of officers and soldiers allegedly involved in the killing of Sheikh Abd al-Wahed and his companion Sheikh Mohammad al-Merheb.

Following al-Bireh meeting that included a number of political figures, Daher revealed that he was promised that the relevant case will be submitted to the cabinet.

Daher went on to warn of civil obedience and protests outside PM Najib Mikati’s residence and the Grand Serail if the cabinet stops short of fulfilling its duty, confirming that the Akkar residents will not allow sedition between them and the LAF.

Addressing Change and Reform leader MP Michel Aoun, Daher said “stop making mockery of the Lebanese people and stop [acting under the order of] the Syrian regime. Don’t sell Lebanese institutions for momentary gains”.

In an earlier meeting, the Association of Muslim Scholars warned against changing the relevant investigations’ results and acquitting the officers “who are now well-known by all”.

The scholars urged the government to submit the case to the Judicial Council and to protect the border and put an end to the violations perpetrated by the Syrian regime’s forces.

Sheikh Abd al-Wahed and his companion Sheikh Mohammad al-Merheb were killed on the 20th of May after failing to stop at an LAF checkpoint while on route to a rally organized by MP Khaled Daher in Halba to commemorate the killing of Future Movement supporters during clashes in 2008.
