Abbas discusses with Burns stumbling political process with Israel
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns on Wednesday to discuss the stumbling peace process with between Palestine and Israel.

Abbas briefed Burns on the latest developments of the stumbling political process due to the intransigence of the Israeli government that refuses to commit to any of the agreements signed between the two parties.

Abbas stressed that resuming negotiations requires forcing the Israeli government to implement its commitment to put an end to settlement activities including in Jerusalem, and to accept the two-state solution “especially that these are not Palestinian pre-conditions, but commitments binding Israel under the road map”.
