Haniyeh calls on Egypt to keep Rafah crossing open around the clock
Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh called on Egypt on Wednesday “to open the door of the Rafah crossing wider by allowing it to work around the clock and increasing the number of Palestinian travelers”.

At a ceremony inaugurating a new hall at the border crossing, Haniyeh noted that Gaza and Palestine need a political will that represents the Tahrir Square, the revolution, the rebels and the Arab Spring. He pointed out that the crossing is currently open nine hours a day for six days a week, with the number of people allowed to cross daily into Egypt capped at 1,500.
