A new form of corruption related to the electricity sector in Lebanon has been recently uncovered, in which a former employee at Electricite Du Liban, who was arrested by security forces, had been extending cables from neighborhoods supplied by state electricity in Beirut southern suburbs, to another street suffering from power outage.
According to the security forces, this process had been ongoing for five years, during which the detained man was receiving monthly subscription fees from the residents of said streets.
