Trump cables Aoun, Hariri for Independence Day

President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri received on Monday cables from US President Donald Trump on the occasion of Lebanon’s Independence Day.

Trump congratulated the two officials on the occasion and expressed his “deepest appreciation for the partnership between the US and Lebanon.

“We praise the huge progress made by your government during the last year, including the holding of successful parliamentary elections and your steadfastness in the fight against terrorism ,” Trump said in his cable.

He also noted that the US is looking forward to work with a new Lebanese Cabinet, adding that his country stands firm in supporting a prosperous, safe and peaceful Lebanon.

This as Aoun and Hariri received several cables from other world leaders.
