A series of photos circulated on Tuesday showing the Berdawni River in Zahle turning black with no known reasons behind such an incident.

This as sources told LBCI that Caretaker Minister of Environment Tareq al-Khatib is following up on the issue and called Bekaa Governor and the concerned authorities to pursue those involved in the incident.

Later in the day, the Litani River Authority found that the source of the Berdawni’s pollution to be the untreated emptying of materials from a nearby factory.
