How was an apartment valued for $400 thousand bought by Government Employees Cooperative for close to $1 mln?

In the region of Baabda, in a building called “Brazilia”, which was built around 50 years ago, the Cooperative of Government Employees bought an apartment on the ground floor with a space of around 300 square meters.

The apartment was bought to become the cooperative’s headquarter in Mount Lebanon.

The cooperative paid LBP 1.432 billion for the apartment, which equals around USD 950 thousand.

However, in the same building, on the 5th floor, a 600 square meter apartment overlooking Beirut and Mount Lebanon, has been put on the market to be sold for less than the afore-mentioned one.
