The protesters headed Sunday afternoon to the Interior Ministry in Hamra Street, the state-run National News Agency reported, adding that the Lebanese army and security forces brought in reinforcements.
The protesters lined up garbage bins across the road and set them on fire, blocking to road leading to Hamra, while they chanted slogans calling for guaranteeing health benefits and other demands related to the living conditions.
They also urged the people to leave their houses and join the movement, noting that they might set up tents in Riad al-Solh square until the officials meet their demands.
The protesters said that another demonstration will be held next Sunday.
