Among the five proposals presented by Free Patriotic Movement chief Gebran Bassil, one suggests forming a cabinet of 32 ministers, in which two new ministers will be added, one Alawite added to the share of PM-designate Saad Hariri and another representing the Christian minorities added to the share of the president, which allows to grant the “Consultative Gathering” one Sunni minister, without affecting any of the shares of the PM and the president’s.
This proposal has been strongly rejected by PM-designate Hariri, while Hezbollah has not only shown support, but sources suggest that the Shiite party is behind it.
Aside from the afore-mentioned proposal, there is another suggesting the formation of 24 ministers and one suggesting a 36-minister government, neither of which has received the support of the political forces.
