The ministerial committee tasked with drafting the cabinet’s Policy Statement held a meeting on Monday, and is scheduled to hold another meeting on Tuesday at 2 pm.
Sources reported that the discussions during today’s session was calm and focused on approving the items related to economic reforms, while the item related to the resistance is on tomorrow’s agenda.
In this regards, sources told LBCI that amendments were introduced to the economic items of the initial draft, such as removing the figures allocated to the sectors based on Cedre decisions, and omitting the timeframe for the 24/7 electrical supply issue.
The sources added that Minister Salim Jreissati tried to include in the Policy Statement’s introduction a sort of warning against attempts to obstruct the governmental work, but his request was rejected by the representatives of the Progressive Socialist Party, Amal Movement and the Lebanese Forces.
Commenting on the meeting, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil said that “if they keep this pace, the Policy Statement will be done by tomorrow.”
