Bassil, EDL delegation visit Mona Issa

Energy Minister Gebran Bassil, alongside a delegation from Electricité Du Liban headed by the General Director Kamal Hayek, visited on Wednesday the EDL's Financial Affairs Director Mona Issa at her house in Cornet Chahwan. The visitors deplored the threats received by Issa at her office, following an alleged forced entry by EDL contract workers days earlier. During the visit, Bassil said that a solution is being cultivated for the preservation of the EDL. For his part,  Hayyek stressed on the need to remove the company from the midst of political aggravations.     

Commenting on the alleged attack, the EDL contract workers’ committee explained that Issa had openly received them, denying any accusation of forced entry and threats.  The committee added that “such a thing, had it happened, is a natural repercussion to the treatment inflicted by Issa against the worker”.         

Issa, on the other hand, claims that the alleged attack is all filmed and documented via the company’s facilities.             

On Bassil’s statement which says that the numbers of protesters has slowly dissipated, the committee said that the protest remains strong and steady, however adding that many have returned to their contracting companies due to heavy financial burdens.             

The committee denied that any meeting had taken place with Bassil, citing his refusal to receive protestors or their representatives.
