Prime Minister Saad Hariri expressed Thursday gratitude to Italy for its unwavering friendship and constant support for Lebanon, as well as for its contribution to the international peace forces at the Lebanese southern borders, recalling Lebanon’s commitment to the UN resolution 1701 and the disassociation policy.
During a joint press conference with Hariri, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte wished luck for the new cabinet, stressing that Italy will always stand by the institutions in Lebanon and will continue to contribute to the peace process and dialogue.
Conte explained that he tackled with Hariri the developments along the Blue Line, hoping that dialogue will be the only solution to relieve tensions. He stressed that Italy is ready to act as mediator.
