Satterfield praises new government’s efforts

Acting United States assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs David Satterfield asserted on Tuesday that Lebanon has now a new government that can take sensitive decisions concerning the country's economy, fighting corruption and security issues.

Satterfield’s comments were made after meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil whereby he stressed that US is highly committed to Lebanon.

He then met with Kataeb party leader MP Sami Gemayel whereby he stressed that true stability depends on national decisions and not on decisions imposed by others.

“Lebanon has long suffered from conflicts and ideologies promoted by others on its territories, and this has to change,” he added.
