Chehayeb kicks off meetings in Brussels
Minister of Education Akram Chehayeb kicked off on Wednesday meetings in Brussels on the sidelines of the Brussels Conference on the support of Syria and the region.
Chehayeb held a meeting with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Affairs Johannes Han in the presence of the European Commissioner for the Middle East Michael Miller, the Ambassador of the European Union to Lebanon Christina Lassen and members of teh Lebanese delegation.
Talks reportedly featured high over the program of the Ministry of Education to provide education to all children living on Lebanese territories, whether Lebanese or refugees.
The meeting also touched the number of refugee students in public schools and its costs.
Talks also tackled Lebanon's financial and logistical needs to carry out these burdens.
Chehayeb asserted Lebanon’s commitment to provide education for everyone, stressing however the need to support the host country.
He concluded by calling on the European Union, donor countries and sides to "provide long-term support for programming the needs for the coming years and for filling the financial gaps."
This as there was a confirmation to support Lebanon’s education sector in order to fulfill its obligations.
