Head of “Strong Lebanon” bloc, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil declared that the electricity tariff will always be less than that of the private generators, explaining that the new part of the electricity plan is the same tender and the same price for both the temporary and permanent solutions.
Following the bloc’s weekly meeting, Bassil tackled the issue of the budget, stressing the need to reduce the deficit as soon as possible.
He also stated that the Finance and Budget committee launched a major investigation into the illegal employments, noting that “it has been revealed that some ministers hold direct responsibilities in this issue, contrary to what they were claiming in the media.”
Regarding the fight against corruption, he said that the work will continue, pointing out that they do not provide protection for anyone in the case of the judges.
On another note, Bassil noted that Cedre is not an imposed choice, “but these reforms were proposed by us.”
