Samy Gemayel: Our history will no longer be falsified

Kataeb Party Chief MP Samy Gemayel stressed Saturday that “their history will no longer be falsified,” adding that history will prove that the first blood drop belonged to the Kataeb.

During a ceremony commemorating “Martyr’s Day,” Gemayel said that they did not wish to fight the war or to assume the responsibility of fighting and defending Lebanon but the state abandoned them.

He stressed that their only goal is to prevent the recurrence of these events and to restore the party’s position.

The deputy pointed out that Minister and Martyr Pierre Amin Gemayel, who died while defending Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence was a member of the Kataeb, adding that history will stand witness to Amin Gemayel’s efforts to defend Lebanon against the weapons of the Palestinians, Syrians and Israelis.

“History will also affirm that in the Kataeb’s headquarters in Sayfi, the party’s political bureau took the decision of resistance and named the leaders from William Hawi, to Fouad Abou Nader, passing by Sheikh Bashir, who became a martyr at the Kataeb office in Ashrafieh,” he said.

Gemayel also stressed that the Kataeb’s role is to break the collective agreement to surrender before the weapons and to be the backbone of a free opposition in order to reverse the destructive equation and correct the course of events.

“The empty rhetoric used to justify surrender and collusion is the same behavior that led Lebanon to April 13, 1975,” he said.
