Interior Minister calls citizens to practice their democratic right

Minister of Interior Rayya al-Hassan voiced hopes on Sunday that the by-elections at the northern city of Tripoli would be held smoothly.

She also hoped that the results would be announced as soon as possible after midnight.

Al-Hassan called on citizens to practice their democratic right.

Later in the day, the minister visited a polling station in the city, citing the lack of a political battle behind the low turnout.

On another note, al-Hassan vowed to take additional procedures to facilitate the voting of people with special needs in the next elections.
