Environment Minister Fadi Jreissati stressed Monday during a tour to inspect the Costa Brava landfill, that the waste is not touching the sea, vowing to find a solution for the bad smell emanating from the landfill.
Jreissati said his tour was positive, emphasizing that work at the landfill is moving smoothly and no concerns are raised.
He also noted that the government must assume its responsibility, explaining that he did not propose a landfill at the sea as a solution, “but some things are imposed.”
The minister also said that experience proved that politics are capable of thwarting plans, hoping that such events do not recur.
In this regard, Jreissati pointed out that he cannot be held responsible for the period during which he was not in the ministry, noting that they will implement a number of temporary solutions to expand the landfill, mainly in Bourj Hammoud.
