The towns of Kfar Remen, Deir al-Zahrani, Hboush and other villages in the Nabatieh district decided not to wait for the government to find a solution for the waste crisis. They also did not wait for the reopening of a sorting plant, closed since 2016.
But instead, they have been sorting the garbage from the source for a few years now and with minimal resources.
