EDL contract workers, without salaries, awaiting a settlement

The EDL contract workers are still waiting for the implementation of the agreement reached with the political powers which promises the payment for three-months in salaries.

In this context, a meeting was held on Monday evening between the General Labor Confederation (GLC) and the EDL follow up committee to discuss the contracts between companies and contract workers.

Later on Monday, the contract workers were informed that two of the service providing companies refused to abolish the contracts’ item number 6; which stupilates a 3-month-long trial period.

Labor Minister Salim Jreissaty told the GLC that he rejects this item, calling on contract workers not to sign.

Accordingly, the EDL contract workers crisis might go back to square one if the contracting companies do not go back on their decisions.
