Among the proposed austerity measures included in the budget draft law is the reduction of the transport allowance granted to public sector employees from 8,000 to 6,000 Lebanese Pounds per day.
This measure is expected to save the state treasury around 140 billion LBP per year, which equals nearly $93 billion.
