Rifi: Information Branch spared the country the risk of falling into sectarian strife

ISF Chief, Major General Ashraf Rifi praised the efficiency of the Information Branch which fulfilled its assigned duties in the field of law enforcement and strengthening preventive security, especially in the fight against terrorist crimes. He stressed that the Information Branch exerted strong efforts, uncovering a dangerous plan, which was aiming at implementing terrorist attacks including explosions and assassinations in North Lebanon.

Rifi noted that the Information Branch managed, in a short period of time, to detect the identity of the “mastermind”, bring evidence proving his involvement, arrest him and refer him to the Judiciary. The Branch managed also to seize explosives and a large amount of money dedicated to cover the expenses of the attacks. Rifi said that the Information Branch spared the country the risk of falling into sectarian strife.
