Security apparatuses hand Samaha’s case file and remaining evidence to judiciary

The military Magistrate is expected to start interrogating former Minister Michel Samaha over charges of plotting terrorist attacks on Monday.       

In this regard, Samaha had spent the night at the Military Court’s in Beirut, as per the preliminary arrest warrant.       

For their part, security apparatuses handed Samaha’s entire case file and remaining evidence including the 24 explosive devices over to the Military Court. 

As for the person who allegedly worked for Samaha, only to later report him to authorities, has now been identified as Milad Kfoury, also known for other names such as Zoheir Nahhas.

In a statement released later in the day, Minister Mohammad Safadi confirmed Milad Kfoury’s employment as a security agent with him.

According to the statement, Kfoury and after the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, offered his protection services, noting that politicians at that time were hiring security services for protection. Kfoury continued his work with Safadi until the third week of July, when he retired for undisclosed reasons.

Meanwhile, a number of supporters of former minister Michel Samaha held a support rally before the Military Court, calling for his immediate release.

The protesters said that media leaks are posing a significant threat to public opinion
