Environment Minister visits Western Bekaa

Environment Minister Fadi Jreissati stressed the importance of treating waste from the source, through a law that is being prepared by the ministry in cooperation with the Parliament, to implement the sorting of waste at home.

During a tour in the west Bekaa, the minister said that they have an exemplary plan for the region to classify the agricultural lands and prevent construction from taking over them.

As for the sorting plant in Jab Jannin, Jreissati stated that it will soon be able to contain a large part of the area’s garbage.

“There will be factories managed by the private sector and monitored by the Environment Ministry,” the minister explained regarding the waste treatment in the next stage.

During the visit, Jreissati met with mayors of the region's villages and towns and listened to the main problems they have been facing.
