Lebanese Democratic Party chief Talal Erslan said Wednesday that he discussed with Speaker Nabih Berri the incident of Qabrchmoun and its repercussions on the Mountain and its safety.
Speaking from Ain al-Tineh, he stated that “it is shameful not to take what happened very seriously and refer the case to the Judicial Council,” noting that this referral is not a pre-judgement against anyone.
“Our demands and insistence on referring the case to the Judicial Council come in respect to the coexistence, civil peace and the state’s authority,” he noted.
Erslan also said that “whoever refuses to refer case of Qabrchmoun incident to the Judicial Council bears the responsibility of what happened in the Mountain and what could happen in the future.”
He stressed that Minister Saleh al-Gharib was a target of an armed ambush and an assassination attempt, noting that this affected the dignity of the government.
