LDP, PSP trade accusations over shooting outside Gharib’s house

The Lebanese Democratic Party issued on Saturday a statement in which it accused a Progressive Socialist Party supporter of trying to break into the house of Minister of State for Refugee Affairs Saleh Gharib.

The LDP’s statement added that the minister’s guards shot at the supporter in the leg.

For its part, the PSP also issued a statement in which it said that an unarmed man hailing from the Basatin region was passing by Gharib’s house when the guards shot at him, injuring him severely.

Yesterday’s incident comes after last month’s Aley clashes during which Gahrib’s two bodyguards were killed.

Later in the day, the Lebanese army said in a statement that it deployed in the region, while the Internal Security Forces were investigating the incident.
