Nasrallah: We do not seek to exclude anyone… Israel is not only scared of Hezbollah

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah stressed Friday that the war waged against Lebanon in July 2006 was a US decision with Israel as an implementation tool, explaining that the goal behind the war was to build a new Middle East region to complete the US invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq.

In a speech he delivered during “Divine Victory Anniversary Ceremony” held in Bint Jbeil on the 13th anniversary of the July war 2006, Nasrallah said that “the war’s goal was to destroy the resistance in Lebanon and Palestine, to end the rule of Assad in Syria, to crush the real resistance in Iraq and to isolate Iran before toppling it,” noting that had this project succeeded, it would have led to an American dominance over the region.

He also pointed out that the war ended when the US and Israel became aware of their failure to fulfill the main goal and were afraid from their actions backfiring on them, emphasizing that had the war continued, it would have been a disaster for Israel.

“During the July war, there was no national unity in Lebanon, but a distinguished official political position represented by former President Emile Lahoud and Speaker Nabih Berri, coupled with solidarity expressed by blocs and movements as well as residents who opened their towns and homes for the displaced,’ he explained, adding that if the national unity existed, Lebanon would have been in a position to impose conditions.

Addressing the Israeli teams and brigades, the secretary general said: “If you access our territory, every area will be 500 times stronger than this “steadfastness square” where we are celebrating in today; and you will watch in live stream as we destroy the Israeli brigades.”

Nasrallah praised the position of President Michel Aoun who stressed that “if the war is repeated, the victory will also be repeated.”

“It is because of these positions that we will never be defeated,” Nasrallah emphasized.

In the same context, Hezbollah’s chief stated that Israel does not attack Lebanon only because it is scared of Hezbollah, but because it believes that any new war on Lebanon will detonate the region through the axis of resistance.

“Today we have a resistance front extending tom Palestine to Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Yemen, as well as political forces in Bahrain, Tunisia, the region and the world,” he added.

Nasrallah also said that relying on the axis of resistance will prevent any universal war on Syria, will end the aggression on Yemen and will prevent Iraq from falling again under American dominance.

“A war on Iran means a war on the axis of resistance, which means that the whole region will ignite.”

On the local scene, the Shiite party secretary general explained that “internally, we do not act from the position of the triumphant, we are acting equally towards anyone and we don’t want to remove anyone from the political scene.”

Nasrallah expressed regret over the resignation of former MP Nawaf al-Moussawi, calling on the residents of Tyre to vote in the by-elections, wishing success of their candidate Sheikh Hassan Ezzeddine.
