French President Emmanuel Macron stressed that France continues to be committed to Lebanon’s security and stability.
During a joint conference with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri at Elysee Palace, Macron noted that his country will keep deploying efforts in order to find a sustainable solution for the issue of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
For his part, PM Hariri emphasized that Lebanon is committed to the UN Resolution 1701 and to the implementation of economic reforms, expressing gratitude to France for its constant support for Lebanon.
“We signed today a letter of intent with the French government on purchasing French equipment to boost Lebanon’s defensive and security capabilities,” he explained, adding that the larger part will be used to improve the capabilities of the naval forces.
Hariri stressed that this investment is essential for Lebanon to be able to guarantee and protect its oil and gas rights.
