Crowds of residents flocked from various Akkar towns and villages and gathered in the squares of Halba and al-Abdeh, upon the call for “Sunday of Unity”.
The protesters raised Lebanese flags and chanted slogans calling for change, holding the corrupt politicians accountable, forming a transitional government and holding early parliamentary elections.
Calls have been issued through social media platforms to block main roads on Monday as of 5:00 am.
