Baabda sources said that the importance of the meeting held between President Michel Aoun and Director General for Political Affairs at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Richard Moore lies in the fact that Britain is chairing the UN Security Council, which is set to convene later on Monday and will tackle the situation in Lebanon.
The sources told LBCI that the visit of the British envoy comes to complete the visit of the French envoy Christophe Farnaud, explaining that discussions focused on the events taking place in the streets, as well as the economic and financial crisis.
The same sources stressed that the visit comes as exploratory, adding that Moore emphasized his country’s continuous support for the Lebanese army.
They also stated that the British envoy will urge the Lebanese parties to hasten the cabinet formation.
