Head of the Finance and Budget Committee MP Ibrahim Kanaan declared Tuesday that a closed session will be called for soon to meet with head of the Association of Banks in Lebanon, central bank governor and finance minister and ask them about the current mechanism and reassure the people about their deposits.
Following the committee’s meeting, Kanaan said that this was supposed to be the final session, but after they received an amendment in revenues from the Finance Ministry last week, a 35% decrease was registered.
“We have finalized all the pending items of 2020 budget, with the exception of the item 22, which is related to the banking situation,” he stated.
The deputy said that what has been happening in Lebanon and the repercussions on the financial and economic situation will not pass unnoticed, stressing that they are ready to listen to anyone who would like to give their opening from the professional community.
