Protesters return to Mohammad Choucair’s house, launch series of accusations again him

Activists staged a protest on Sunday outside the residence of caretaker Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Choucair to voice rejection to a decision to renew the contracts for the mobile operators Alfa and Touch.

Activist Neemat Badreddine read a statement, whereby she noted that the telecom minister ignored the decision of the president and the telecom parliamentary committee by renewing the contracts of the companies indefinitely, without any hesitation and without any consideration for the people on the streets.

“Mohammad Choucair prioritized the interests of the mobile operators, both of which are accused of corruption, bad service and overpriced operations, over the interest of the Lebanese state,” she pointed out, adding that this renewal is illegal.

In turn, Attorney Hassan Bazzi stressed that complaints will be filed Monday in this regard before the Court of Audit and the public prosecution.
