Conflicting reports emerged regarding release of Syrian, Turkish detainees

Conflicting reports emerged regarding the fate of the Turkish detainee and the rest of the detainees held by al-Meqdad clan. While the official spokesman of the Meqdad clan Maher al-Meqdad said that the LAF raided several hideouts for Mikdad clan in Hay al Soloum and succeeded in freeing the Syrian hostages, adding that the army fired at the detainees injuring the Turkish detainee, security sources told LBCI that the latter was not present with the other unidentified detainees, and that there was no shootings during raid operations.

Meanwhile, a military source confirmed to LBCI the implementation of raid operations, arrest of wanted people and release of kidnapped.       

For his part, Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn told LBCI that LAF works according to its own agenda, stressing that the Lebanese Army has control over all Lebanese territories with no exception.

In this context, conflicting reports emerged regarding the Turkish detainee held by Saraya al-Mukhtar al-Thaqafi, Abdel Baset Orslan. Some information stated his release and the release of the rest of the detainees and handing them over to the Director General of the General Security Abbas Ibrahim. However, the Turkish ambassador told LBCI that they did not receive official information on the release of the Turkish detainee held by Saraya al-Mukhtar al-Thaqafi, noting that they were informed that Turkish detainee held by al-Meqdad is in good health.
