PM Diab meets with ICRC head in Lebanon

Prime Minister Hassan Diab met on Wednesday with Head of ICRC in Lebanon, Christophe Martin, with discussions featuring high on the international organization’s local activities.

Martin later commented on the meeting, saying: “I had the honor of meeting the Prime Minister for the first time. I introduced him to the International Committee of the Red Cross, its activities, and its presence for over 53 years in the country, and to exchange operational issues that concern the ICRC. I had an extremely open discussion with the Prime Minister. I also underlined the important role of the Lebanese Red Cross through its ambulance and blood bank services, but also its role during the critical situation the country is going through regarding the coronavirus.

“I also addressed the problem of the missing persons and I reiterated the wish to implement the ad hoc national commission, in conformity with the law 105 approved in September last year. I highlighted the importance of allocating a budget to this commission for its implementation as quickly as possible, because it’s the State’s obligation on one hand, and an important expectation from the authorities and families of the missing persons on the other,” he added.
